ABOUT THE SHIRT

The same person who did the science illustrations in this book also taught Science Illustration at U.C. Santa Cruz. He did a pin and ink drawing for the design of the iguana on the back of this T-shirt and its famous one-of-a-kind tail that starts on the front of the shirt then wraps under the armpit of the shirt and then connects with the the big iguana on the back of the shirt .

The wrapping of the tail was the author's idea, he wanted something totally original. He picked the four colors for the iguana and specified the special details needed so the iguana would looked like it was actually digging its claws into the T-shirt on the back. Most screen shops said they could make the shirt but in the long run only one was actually able to make the complicated tail wrap around the shirt. Just one shop!

Oneita brand T-shirts (Power-T) were chosen for this shirt because they have heavy-weight cloth and strong necks—these necks will last for years without stretching out of shape. It was costly to make these shirts, but we wanted to keep the price fair so more iguana owners could get them. The shirt hasn't increased in price in all these years.

We have been offering this T-shirt for a long time and now we are down to just a few boxes of shirts in the warehouse. A very detailed, realistic pen-and-ink drawing of a huge iguana takes up most of the back of the shirt. The iguana has four colors: tan, lime green, dark green, and grey. The lettering on the front of the shirt is done in a burgundy color. The iguana is so detailed you can actually see individual scales, spines, and color patterns. For added realism, the iguana's claws were drawn to look like they are clawing into the shirt.

The eye on the iguana is so real people feel that the iguana is looking at them. The lizard is so big that its tail has to wrap around the side of the shirt and ends curled up on the front. This continuous tail design makes people's heads turn!

The white, pre-shrunk 100% cotton shirt is available ONLY in Large and X-Large sizes. This shirt is top-quality in every aspect including heavyweight material, reinforced shoulder stitching, superb color printing—and it is made in the U.S.A.
